REDMOND, WA -- Microsoft's patch this morning to update the Windows Updater caused problems updating Windows machines all over the world.
Microsoft Spokesperson Ben Affleck said that the situation was "pretty messed up but we're working on it, okay?".
The problems began around 6 a.m. when Microsoft released an update to the Windows Updater. It appears that the updater was already doing Windows updates and the attempt to update the updater caused users' screens to lock up, sometimes with the "blue screen of death" or the "new Windows smiley screen of death".
We will keep you updated with updates on the update of the Windows updater and its affect on normal Windows updates.
UPDATE: An update from Microsoft indicates that the Windows updater updates problem has been resolved.
